Se videoen  her.
11 - PÃ¥ trods af kontroverserne omkring ‘One In A Million‘, rammer “GN’R Lies” alligevel Top 5 hitlisten. GnR bliver det første band i 15 Ã¥r til at have to albums pÃ¥ Top 5 pÃ¥ samme tid! “Appetite” genvinder førstepladsen igen denne dag.
Axl:Â “I went back and forth from Indiana eight times my first year in Hollywood. I wrote it about being dropped off at the bus station and everything that was going on… the black guys trying to sell you drugs is where the line ‘Police and niggers, get out of my way’ comes from. I’ve seen these huge black dudes pull bowie-knives on people for their boom boxes and shit. It’s ugly… When I say ‘I’m just a small town white boy’ I’m just saying I’m no better than anyone else I’ve described. I’m just trying to get through life, that’s all.”
18/19 – “Patience“-musikvideoen bliver optaget på The Record Plant/Ambassador Hotel i Los Angeles. Se videoen her.
24 - Duff & Steven dukker op til interview hos Howard Stern. Marts “Paradise City” bliver GnR’s første single på Englands Top 10.
Axl gÃ¥r til Depeche Mode “101” filmpremiere i L.A.
19 - Del James interviewer Axl i hans hjem. Interviewet havner pÃ¥ ‘Patience‘ singlen. Han taler om ‘Patience‘, det næste album, og en ny sang som Izzy har skrevet med teksten “Double Talkin’ jive, get the money motherfucker, ‘cause I got no more patience“. Lyt til interviewet her. PÃ¥ et tidspunkt i august mÃ¥ned udgives interviewet. læs her.
Axl: “We want to define ourselves. Appetite was our cornerstone, a place to start. That was like ‘Here’s our land and we just put a stake in the ground. Now we’re going to build something.'” [Kilde] Slash: “It was definitely exploratory compared to Appetite. I mean, honestly, I’d have preferred to do a record with just 10 fucking songs that were a bit more straightforward, but it was an opportunity to finally get the band to work again.”
Juli21/22 - GnR jammer med The Cult på The Loft/Scrap Bar i New York. Se klip her. Sætliste: Mama Kin, Rock And Roll, Satisfaction, Paranoid, blues jam, The Garden, Yesterdays
29 – “Nightrain” singlen udgives.
03 - Slash & Steven spiller “Paranoid” i Ozzy Osbournes show i Irvine Meadows, Los Angeles, CA.
Izzy: “Three years ago, we played some club one night and I was hangin’ out with these girls when she came backstage. I said ‘Hey your pussy’s hangin’ out!’ and she fuckin’ punched me! So I just lifted my foot and pushed her back. She fell down. Next thing I know, she’s got me on a rape charge. So I have to go to court, right, for this bullshit, and she didn’t show up. Anyway, Motley Crue are a bunch of lying cocksuckers. It’s gonna be interesting to see how they respond to this.” Axl: “Meantime, I don’t know nuthin’. I’m walking way up ahead of everybody else, and the next thing I know Vince Neil comes flying past me like his ass is on fire or s omething. All I saw was a blur of cheekbones! I tell ya, man, it makes my blood boil when I read him saying all that shit about how he kicked Izzy’s ass. Turn the fuckin’ tape recorder on. I wanna set the record straight. I mean, when Vince did that, we were advised we could sue his ass off if we’d wanted to. But we said no, fuck it, who needs the grief? The guy’s a jerk. Fuck the courts, the guy needs a good ass-whippin’! And now I read this – we get Kerrang a little late here in LA – and I tell ya, he’s gonna get a good ass-whippin’, and I’m the boy to give it to him….. It’s like, whenever you wanna do it, man, let’s just do it. I wanna see that plastic face of his cave in when I hit him !”
21 - Slash spiller ved Great White’s show på Spectrum i Philadelphia pÃ¥ “Jumping Jack Flash“.
Der blev dog arbejdet pÃ¥ følgende sange: “The Garden“, Get In The Ring“, “So Fine” og et antal Izzy sange.
Gene Ambo: “In Chicago we have a excellent venue called the Metro, and upstairs is a small stage area with about 100 seats called Joz after the owner. It’s used for plays and bands to rehearse there. GN’R decided to rent and rehearse in Joz for 7-8 months. While there, they would regularly go downstairs to the SmartBar-in the basement of the Metro-and serve drinks, throw drinks around and just go ballistic. One night [former Hanoi Rocks vocalist] Mike Monroe was playing at the Metro and Slash came down and the party started. After they jammed together they were getting really pissed. I had gear set up so I asked ‘em if they wanted to do a shot. Slash held up his bottle, like ‘got one’. These two were truly having a good time.” Slash: “With a band like Guns N’ Roses when we first went into it, we had pretty much one direction. But when you have 30 different songs, different approaches, written at different times, you want to paint each song a certain colour. It called for a more intellectual approach.”
Se video med de to sange her.
Axl: “The whole story is, Vince Neil took a pot-shot at Izzy as he was walkin’ off stage at the MTV awards, after jammin’ with Tom Petty, because Vince’s wife has got a bug up her ass about Izzy. Izzy doesn’t know what’s going on, Izzy doesn’t fuckin’ care. But anyway, Izzy’s just walked off stage. He’s momentarily blinded, as always happens when you come off stage, by coming from the stark stage-lights straight into total darkness side-stage. Suddenly, Vince pops up out of nowhere and lays one on Izzy. Tom Petty’s security people jump on him and ask Alan Niven, our manager who had his arm ‘round Izzy’s shoulders when Vince bopped him, if he wants to press charges. He asks Izzy and Izzy says : ‘Naw, it was only like bein’ hit by a girl!’ and they let him go.”
10 – “It’s So Easy“-musikvideoen blev indspillet ved The Cathouse, Hollywood, CA. “It’s So Easy” blev spillet tre gange under sættet pga. videoptagelserne. Se den lækkede ucensurerede video af “It’s So Easy“ her.

Slash: “The day before the Stones gig we did a warm-up show at the Cathouse and it was killer. It was the first time we’d played in a while, and we had so much energy to get out; we sounded amazing and it was a classic Guns show. It wasn’t without its unpleasantness, though, because Axl insulted David Bowie so much from the stage that Bowie left in the middle of the set […] That evening was captured for posterity in the video for “It’s So Easy,” which was never accepted by MTV or aired in the States because we refused to edit out the profanity in the song” [Slash’s biografi, s.277]
Bandet spillede et næsten to timers sæt. “Heartbreak Hotel” er med  Michael Monroe. Axl spiller igen bas pÃ¥ “Rocket Queen“.

Lonn Friend interview: METAL SLUDGE: Speaking of Guns N’ Roses, tell us the story about the RIP party at the Park Plaza Hotel, the last club gig ever performed by the original GNR. FRIEND; It was sometime after midnight and we were way over capacity. So the fire department unilaterally cleared 1,000 guests from the building’s downstairs area. METAL SLUDGE: I know, I was heading in the bathroom until they left. FRIEND: I believe that. Anyway, I soon came to to discover that Alice Cooper and Steve Vai were among the guests herded out. Meanwhile, I’m upstairs in the performance room where the other 1,000 fans are anxiously awaiting GN’R to hit the stage. It’s now well after 1 in the morning, and I am way fucking nervous. This is a bad situation if the band doesn’t play and it’s my fault because it’s my party. I’ll never forget sitting down on the stairs leading to the stage, cowering like a monk with my head in hands, a dozen men in yellow jackets and yellow hats hovering about me. When all of a sudden, a finger taps me on shoulder. I look up, and it’s Axl. “Relax, man,†he says. “ We’re going on.†It was like he magically appeared from the rafters like the phantom of the opera. Moments later, GN’R tore the place apart — Mike Monroe doing “Heartbreak Hotel†and stage diving with Axl and Duff. Their set ended around 3:15 or something. And a couple days later, GN’R opened four epic dates for the Rolling Stones at the Coliseum. METAL SLUDGE: The buzz was so huge for Guns … FRIEND: To put it mildly. Think about this, the greatest band in rock history, the Rolling Stones, being upstaged by an opening act. But that’s how unreal it was. GN’R was handed the rulebook and they, forgive the expression, ripped it to shreds. The following year, we moved the party to a bigger venue, the Hollywood Palladium, and I helped put together the jam of the decade. It was really the guys who did it. It’s always the community of musicians that make the real magic happen. GN’R, Metallica and Sebastian – the GAAK jam, as it was known. Now this came after Ozzy did “War Pigs†with Faith No More, and James Hetfield joining Jim Martin on guitars. Motorhead was on the bill, and out of nowhere, Megadeth shows up at the back door with their manager, Ron Laffitte. “We just got off stage at the Santa Monica Civic, heard you were throwing a party,†says Mustaine. “Mind if we do three or four songs?†I grabbed stage manager, Kevin Lyman (the creator of the Warped Tour years later) and said, “Well, Kev?†and he shoots back, “Let’s do it!†Gaak did Nazareth’s “Hair of the Dog,†with Axland Bas sharing vocals. Lars was on the kit. Duff on bass, Slash on guitar. Hetfield and Hammett get on stage and they performed “Whiplash†for the second time because when Bas sang it first time around, as James put it in his classic intro, “We’re gonna do it now ‘cause that other guy fucked it up.†Yeah we had some parties. The very next year was the Seattle blowout, where Pearl Jam, Soundgarden, Alice in Chairs and the only full Temple of the Dog jam ever took place. There’s footage of it in Cameron Crowe’s documentary, Pearl Jam 20, respectfully captioned RIP Anniversary Oct. 5 1991. I didn’t even know they were filming. But I almost cried when I saw the footage on the Arc Light screen, bigger than life. Bigger than life, that was RIP and our parties. And the amazing rockers, writers, photographers and staffers and fans that helped create this singular, special, sonic moment in time and space. [Kilde]
GnR åbner 4 shows for The Rolling Stones i Los Angeles.
Axl: “I hate to do this on stage. But I tried every other fucking way. And unless certain people in this band get their shit together, these will be the last Guns N’ Roses shows you’ll fucking ever see. Cause I’m tired of too many people in this organization dancing with Mr. Goddamn Brownstone.” [18. Oktober, 1989]
18 - Axl bruger dette første show i Los Angeles Coliseum til at beklage sig over “visse” medlemmer i bandet (Izzy, Slash & Steven) der danser for meget med “Mr. Brownstone“. Axl mister overblikket pÃ¥ den mørke scene under “Out Ta Get Me“, og falder ned fra scenen, uden at stoppe sangen. “Have a nice life…“, var Axls udelte kommentar til sidst! Senere den aften fortalte Mick Jagger til publikum: “I don’t know what’s the matter with Axl tonight, but we dedicate this next number to him. We all have these things but we don’t talk about them onstage!” hvorefter the Stones startede ‘Mixed Emotions‘.

Slash: […] “I got the call that Axl wasn’t going to do the gigs. His reasoning was thatSteven and I were on smack. We were…but that’s beside the point; we were opening for The Stones. Somehow we coerced him into doing the first show and it was a disaster. “Enjoy the show,” Axl said when we took the stage, “because it’s going to be our last one. There are too many of us dancing with Mr. Brownstone.” I was so pissed off about that and he was so pissed at me for being a junkie that I spent the better half of the show facing my amps. Nothing was together that night, the band sounded horrible” [Slash’s biografi, s.277-278]
Duff: “Before we played our first note, Axl suddenly announced to the 80,000 people in attendance that “if certain people in Guns N’ Roses didn’t stop dancing with Mr. Brownstone,” this would be our last show. The crowd became absolutely quiet. People in the audience looked at one another; they seemed confused as we were. They really had no idea what Axl was talking about. I shrank. I felt so fucking embarrassed. And I was so fucking mad that Axl felt he could do this to me. I would have been supportive if he was sufficiently pissed off at certain guys to want to confront them for what was going on – I was with him., the situation was bad. But he needed to talk about that shit in private! Not out here. Never out here. Once Axl took his concerns public, the times of being a gang – us against the world – were over. We played the rest of the show, but it was a halfhearted effort at best. Afterward, and really for the remainder of our career, we just went our separate ways. That night officially rang the bell for the end of an era of GN’R” [Duff’s biografi, “It’s So Easy”, 2011, s. 158]
Han tilegner ‘Out Ta Get Me‘ til psykopatiske kællinger! ‘Suicide Horns Section,’ spiller igen pÃ¥ ‘Move To The City.’ Axl spiller bas under ‘Rocket Queen‘.

Slash:Â […] “The next day, Doug [Goldstein] told me that Axl would play for the remaining shows as long as I apologized, onstage, to the audience, for being a junkie. […] So when the time came, I walked out there, and rather than apologize, I went into some banter about heroin and what it can do to you and how we’d been around the block a few times, how I’d done my time with the seductive beast. It was more amusing than anything else, because I didn’t want to bring the audience down at all. I have a way of mumbling when I talk anyway, so I think the mention of “the reality of drugs” and whatever else I said came off as an apology enough. We did a long into to “Mr. Brownstone” as I spoke, so from an audience perspective, it seemed like an impromptu introduction to the song. Whatever it was and wasn’t, once Doug told Axl that I did it (because he refused to leave the dressing room until I did), Axl was pleased and the vibe of the whole band turned around as he walked out onstage and we launched into “Mr. Brownstone.” Suddenly our camaraderie returned; once those personal issues were handled, we were able to focus on the playing. That second show was fine” […]Â [Slash’s biografi, s.277-278]
21 – Tredje show ved Los Angeles Coliseum. Før ‘Out Ta Get Me,’ fortæller Axl at der ikke har været nogen i rock n roll at korsfæste i længere tid, sÃ¥ nu kunne det lige sÃ¥ godt blive GnR & Axl Rose. ‘Suicide Horns Section,’ spiller igen pÃ¥ ‘Move To The City.’
Sætliste: It’s So Easy, Mr. Brownstone, Out Ta Get Me, Move To The City, I Was Only Joking [Intro] / Patience, My Michelle, Guitar Solo, Rocket Queen, Only Women Bleed [Intro] / Knockin’ On Heaven’s Door, Welcome To The Jungle, Sweet Child O’ Mine, Paradise City
Slash: […] “The third [show, opening for The Rolling Stones] was even better [than the second]-we really got it all down by then” [Slash’s biografi, s. 279]
22 – Sidste Ã¥bningsshow for the Stones ved Los Angeles Coliseum, der ogsÃ¥ er det sidste show nogensinde for GnR som Ã¥bningsband! ‘Out Ta Get Me‘ tilegnes til “overbearing authority figures.” Endnu en gang spiller ‘Suicide Horns Section,’ pÃ¥ ‘Move To The City.’ Under ‘Knockin’ On Heaven’s Door,’ siger Axl: ‘C’mon people, we gotta warm you up for the greatest rock n roll band in the world – The Rolling Stones!”

Slash: “The fourth show was fucking amazing-we were at our best” [Slash’s biografi, s.279]
Steven: “On the night of the last show, a unique thing happened. At the end of our set we put our arms around one another, and as a group we took a bow. We had never done that before. It felt kind of awkward but appropriate. In my mind, that show was the last real Guns N’ Roses concert ever. Immediately following that bow we once again went our own separate ego-inflated ways” [Steve’s biografi, “My Appetite for Destruction”, 2010, s. 201]
06 – I december mÃ¥ned fortsætter studiooptagelserne ved Mates Rehearsal i North Hollywood. Lyt til sangene her (instrumentale versioner).
Sange:Â Don’t Damn Me 1+2, Garden Of Eden, Locomotive, Dust N’ Bones
12 - Slash & Axl gÃ¥r pÃ¥ scenen med Mike Monroe ved Whiskey A Go Go i Hollywood. Axl havde besøgt Monroe i et studio i New York tilbage i august mÃ¥ned, hvor de optog videoen “Dead, Jail or Rock n’ Roll“, som Axl ogsÃ¥ optræder med her. Slash optræder pÃ¥ “Looking At You“.
Igen optræder de med “Salt Of The Earth“. Se klippet her.
Izzy:Â “The Stones were asking me: ‘Which song are you doing?’ We’d chosen ‘Salt of the Earth’. Nobody knew it! And I’m thinking: ‘Fuck, you guys wrote it over 20 years ago! You must remember some of it!’ So we go back in this little trailer and Mick Jagger’s got a tape-player and he’s listening to it, with the lyrics written on a piece of paper in front of him. And I’m sitting there playing acoustic guitar with Keith Richards and I’m thinking ‘This is sooo cool!’ ‘Cos we’re playing it thru’ and Charlie and Bill Wyman are sitting there, listening to it. And I’m just flipping out, thinking ‘God, this is sooo wild!’ Finally we finished the song. They all turned to me and said: ‘So where’s your singer?’ And I didn’t have an answer! Axl was late again. Real late.”
20 – Tredje og sidste show ved Convention Center, hvor de spiller “Salt of The Earth” og hvor Axl synger baggrundsvokal pÃ¥ “Mixed Emotions“.
31 - Guns N’ Roses gen-udgiver Hanoi Rocks europæiske bagkatalog i USA pÃ¥ deres eget UZI SUICIDE label – se her.
