Guns N’ Roses Lead Guitarist DJ Ashba Chats With PCM! | PCM World News

Of course we had to ask how Axl was doing to which DJ told us Axl is in great spirits and very much looking forward to both the band’s upcoming residency at The Joint at the Hard Rock in Las Vegas, as well as, Rock On The Range. We were also curious about any upcoming new music on the way from GNR  and DJ revealed “When I joined the band five years ago they had three albums worth of material recorded. There is a ton of stuff that nobody has heard that is really, really good. Of course I am a songwriter, producer and so are a lot of the other guys, so everyone has their pile of songs. It is to the point where we don’t have a lack of material, we have an abundance and we have to really sit down and sift through it and make the best sense of it all.”

Guns n Roses Guitarist DJ Ashba Interviewed « Soundcrave Magazine

Is it tough playing the same venue every night?

No, it’s actually fun! Especially Vegas! It is the perfect city for GNR – we like to play long shows. It’s a city that never sleeps – We like to Sin! – a lot, LOL! The after party’s are awesome. We’re all staying in these hotels that are just massive. Some of the fans work their way in – It’s cool you get to run into fans in the hotel a lot. It’s cool meeting these people who allow you to do the things you do for a living.

Las Vegas investigation into Guns N’ Roses police helicopter tour concluded –

Las Vegas, NV (KTNV) — The investigation into the activities of a Las Vegas police fly along in August has concluded.

The LVMPD Air Support fly along occurred on Aug. 7.

DJ Ashba, lead guitarist of Guns N’ Roses, and his girlfriend received a private tour over Las Vegas and then landed in a field at police headquarters. Ashba said that’s where he had a table set up with a bottle of the “bubble stuff” and roses, and popped the question.

Ashba posted a photo on Instagram of the tour and gave a shout out to LVMPD on Twitter.

Two department employees, a captain and a police officer who is a pilot, were found to have violated department policy.

Captain David O’Leary, who had been employed with Metro since February 1989, retired on Dec. 20. He was last assigned as the captain who oversaw the Financial Crimes Bureau.

Officer Ray Horsley has been employed with Metro since February 1994 and is currently assigned to the Air Support Detail.

As a result of the investigation, Captain O’Leary was in the process of being demoted to the rank of lieutenant but retired before the discipline went into effect.

Officer Horsley, effective Jan. 11, will be transferred out of the Air Support Detail and will no longer be allowed to fly for Metro.

A fly-along and a patrol ride-along are typically done for the purpose of exposing members of the community to the duties of law enforcement. A fly-along would begin and terminate at Air Support and would not include any off-site landings as occurred in this case.

Civilians not employed by Metro who were directly involved with this case all declined to be interviewed as part of the investigation.

LIVE! | Hookers ‘N’ Blow Concert Review –

November 2, 2013 at Vamp’d in Las Vegas, NV. –

On any given night there are numerous musical choices to celebrate the weekend. One surefire hit is to take in a concert at Las Vegas premier concert venue Vamp’d. On Nov. 2 the club featured Hookers ‘N’ Blow featuring Guns ‘n’ Roses keyboard player Dizzy Reed. Over the past ten years I haven’t seen Hookers ‘N’ Blow perform on the East Coast. Tonight it was the first time the band performed in Las Vegas. So needless to say, it was going to be a full Hookers ‘N’ Blow extravaganza.

Hookers ‘N’ Blow features an All-Star line-up including Dizzy Reed of GNR on keyboards and vocals, Alex Grossi of Quiet Riot on guitar, Matt Starr on drums of Ace Frehley and Burning Rain and on bass Mike Duda from Wasp. The night included many Guns ‘n’ Roses hits including “It’s So Easy,” “Used To Love Her” and “Don’t Cry.” The show also included favorite cover tunes including “Ziggy Stardust.”

If anyone has ever seen Guns ‘n’ Roses, then you are familiar with the dynamic caliber of keyboard player Dizzy Reed. Dizzy who is heavily influenced by The Rolling Stones brought his bluesy rock style here to Vamp’d tonight and shined. Guitarist Alex Grossi is one of the top guitarists in the business. Alex has a special flair of showcasing his talent of the freeboard with much passion. His style is reminiscent of a young Randy Rhoads. Tonight’s show was filled with many special guest stars including Jizzy Pearl. Jizzy performed two songs with the band. The night hit a special climax as GNR guitarist DJ Ashba took the stage to a riveting response of “Tush.” Also Jeff Duncan of Armored Saint performed “Sin City.”

It was a night filled with many great moments. The band jammed until the wee hours of the morning, as this party was just getting started. Highlight of the set was “Patience” and bluesy encore “Sympathy For The Devil.” Hopefully the band will return to Vamp’d real soon! Check out the links below. The band has new merchandise. Be the first on the block to sport a new Hookers ‘N’ Blow shirt. Special Thanks to Alex Grossi for making this review possible.
