How Being Late And Volatile Was Axl Rose’s Contribution To The Guns N’ Roses Brand

Duswalt claims that Rose’s behavior was never caused by disrespect to the fans. “The myth is that they’re always late, they don’t care about their audiences, their fans, because they go on late,” Duswalt told me. “But the reality is they do care about their fans, so much so that Axl wanted to put on the best show possible. That’s why sometimes he was late because he was not ready to go at the drop of a hat. He had to prepare and sometimes it took longer for him to get into the mindset to put on what he feels is the best show.”

The mindset that Rose had to get into was in fact a state of frenzy, because he carried the weight of delivering the Gun N’ Roses experience on stage. And that experience was all about intensity, danger, violence and mayhem. It was what the fans came for. Axl Rose told journalist Mick Wall in 1990, referencing prize fighter Mike Tyson’s biography Bad Intentions, “I relate what I do to what Tyson says about when he punches someone in the head. He says he imagines hitting ‘em so hard his fist knocks their nose bone right back into their brains. He says when he goes in the ring he does it with bad intentions. Well, that’s like me getting ready to start something, like going onstage. And you gotta make sure when you knock ‘em down they stay down.” Turning the rage on or off was not always easy.

Guns N’ Roses Source Denies Axl Rose Retirement Report

A new report surfaced today on a major entertainment site suggesting that Guns N’ Roses were on the verge of calling it quits because Axl Rose was set to retire, but a very solid source within the band’s camp has told Loudwire that the retirement talk is “bulls–t.”

Radar Online reported that the band was planning to call it a day after the June 7 finale of their current Las Vegas residency, citing that band members had been told that their calendars were clear following the Vegas shows. They quoted a source as saying that Rose was considering retirement and that it was “done.”

However, our source within the GN’R camp claims that the fact that the band members have been told that their calendars are cleared is nothing new for when the band has some down time. As has been in the past, the group members have gone off and pursued other projects.

Bassist Tommy Stinson, who has played some reunion dates with The Replacements this year, will get a chance to continue with their remaining shows. Richard Fortus and Dizzy Reed will have the opportunity to work more with The Dead Daisies and guitarist Ron “Bumblefoot” Thal has been known to pursue solo work on the side as well. Not to mention, guitarist DJ Ashba and his cohorts in Sixx: A.M. are closing in on a new album.

So it appears to be business as usual in the Guns N’ Roses camp, with a healthy break after their Vegas residency for the members to pursue their other passions. That said, it may be a little while before we see the band play live again, so click here to pick up tickets for their current Vegas shows.

Rapidfire: The first recordings of Bill Bailey AKA Axl Rose. by Rapidfire — Kickstarter

The first ever recordings of a fresh off the bus, untattooed Bill Bailey AKA Axl Rose on a never released 1983 Rapidfire CD. Amazing!!

NEVER RELEASED Rapidfire CD from 1983, with Bill Bailey AKA Axl Rose on vocals. This was the FIRST time in a recording studio for all members of the band. This CD happens to ROCK:

In 1983 a three piece band called Rapidfire was gigging around the Los Angeles area with me, Kevin Lawrence on Lead Vocals and Guitar, Mike Hamernik on Bass and Chuck Gordon on Drums. Well… I admittedly kinda sucked as a singer, so we needed a new singer. Luckily I met a fresh off the bus, untattooed rookie named Bill Bailey, later to be known as Axl Rose, who informed me that he was a singer. I asked if he had a PA, he said “yes,” That was basically all it took. He auditioned and got the lead singer slot for Rapidfire. He was given a set of songs to learn in a week before the March 20,1983 Battle Of The Bands gig at Gazzarri’s, which he brilliantly did… By the way, we won.We rehearsed more in Chuck’s Mom’s house, gigged a bit, did a photo session, and quickly went into Telstar Studios on May 25,1983 to record five Rapidfire songs written, produced, copyrighted, and paid for by myself Kevin Lawrence. The band did a great job even though we were just a bunch of kids. With all Copyright PA and SR forms in order, as well as physical possession of the original tapes, digitized multitracks, and a payment receipt in my name, this CD of 5 songs which has never been heard by the public except for the short sample of “Ready To Rumble” is almost ready to release and in need your backing to press CDs and maybe vinyl. I hope you choose to help, get some perks, and get this piece of musical history off the ground, and in the publics hands once and for all. Its been 31 years. Let’s get “Ready To Rumble.” Thank you for your consideration… Seriously… THANK YOU!!!Kevin Lawrence

TwitLonger — When you talk too much for Twitter

Over the past week I’ve put out a few intentionally sarcastic tweets in response and calling attention to the killing of an 18 month old baby male giraffe named Marius by the Copenhagen Zoo in Denmark.

And in that regard I think that without more information or a better understanding of not just how this particular breeding program works or why it’s believed to be necessary and seemingly without room for exception or public opinion… to the average person it would seem that…

1.) Marius could have been spared and was a waste of a healthy young animal’s life.

2.) The manner in which he was if not euthanized then disposed of seemed particularly barbaric, unnecessary and a vulgar or grotesque display of inconsideration and complete disregard for public sentiments adding a level of morbid spectacle and horrendousness difficult for most to comprehend by doing so not just in front of but for what seems some misguided or twisted sense of educational purposes for children.

and…

3.) The seemingly cold and clinical responses and attitudes regarding this unfortunate event by those involved appearing to be somewhat defiant, arrogant and even seeming somewhat perversely satisfied with themselves and their actions going as far as to express “pride” in their decisions comes off as completely heartless in regard to the animals and seems extremely disrespectful toward the general public on this issue.

Perhaps their comments were taken out of context? Perhaps there’s something lost in translation? I don’t know that anyone is trying to say or act in this situation as if they truly know more than these particular or any professional animal caretakers or zoologists etc. but I do know that at present plenty of lay people worldwide do not understand or approve of what took place here. And again without more information and better understanding of the breeding program and why this was deemed the appropriate course of action this event seems misguided and a crime against the very nature those in such positions are thought to be involved with as protectors and caretakers of such animals.

One can attempt to justify these choices as those taking into consideration a bigger picture scientifically but in my view there seems to be more than one perspective to that picture and it would appear that adherence to such a rigid or strict nature of such clinical focus may be disregarding the public impact of their actions.

For most normal everyday people that love, care about and enjoy animals this event has been a tragedy. An unexpected, unimaginable and what for many is most devastating a seemingly avoidable horror show that somehow seems lost on the professionals involved and those speaking for the zoo a facility that’s in my opinion thought to exist for the animals, the public, educational purposes and science in as best a sense of harmony as possible. Just as it’s a privilege for the public to visit, view and experience these animals it’s also a privilege to work with and care for the animals and have the opportunity to do so while interacting and/or working with the public.

Unfortunately somehow in this instance all or much of that seems to have been forgotten.

Axl

I går skrev Axl følgende kommentar på sin twitterprofil:

I dag fulgte han det op med disse ord:

But seriously, let me get this straight… The Danes killed a 2yr old baby giraffe, chopped it up n’ fed him to the lions (allegedly in front of kids) to avoid inbreeding rather than find a place for it. Maybe this is a big problem over there I don’t know but I’m not getting how this deters siblings n’ various other assorted Danish family members from fuckin’ each other?! J/k :)☺

For 1 time siden skrev han:

Lemme get a Giraffica, a homemade cherry Danish, some o’ them pre-fried Pepper’s… Oh! n’ a liter of cola!

Axl Rose’s Ex-Wife Auctioning Off Numerous Personal Items

Who wants to buy Axl Rose‘s marriage certificate? How about the actual wedding video of the singer’s marriage to former actress and model Erin Everly? What about a domestic abuse report? Or break-up letters penned by Rose after the marriage didn’t work out? All of this and more can be yours! Seriously.

Celebrity memorabilia is a pretty lucrative industry, and there’s honestly no telling what weird stuff fans will purchase and for what price. For anyone obsessed with Guns N’ Roses vocalist Axl Rose, a mass of unique items from his marriage to Erin Everly has become available at Julien’s Auctions.

The items of for grabs are pieces from “the collection of Erin Everly” and you won’t believe how deeply personal some of them are. More “normal” items such as Axl Rose’s leather pants, the shirt he wore in the ‘Welcome to the Jungle’ video and old backstage passes are being offered for a price, but these are just tips of the iceberg.

Numerous love letters written by Axl Roses for Everly can be purchased for a few hundred bucks, as can clusters of hand-written poems and lyrics from Rose. The pieces start to get weirder, however, as a copy of Rose and Everly’s 1990 wedding video is priced at $2,000 – $3,000. Additionally, the couple’s marriage certificate is also being auctioned off for the same estimated price.

Strangest of all has got to be a copy of a domestic abuse report filed by the Los Angeles Police Department in 1988. The paper details an alleged incident in which the victim was kicked and beaten with fists. This particular package comes with a bill for the sale Everly’s wedding ring, an “I Love You Erin” note written by Rose, a $5,027 receipt from Franklin Fuller Properties and another receipt from Crown T.V. for the repair of a television that Everly claims Rose broke.

See it all for yourself at Julien’s Auctions.
